The issue(s) I had prior to signing up with John were (I thought) down to accountability and structure. I quickly found out that they were more complicated issues and that the main issue was around making things more simple and thinking about the bigger picture as opposed to my obsession with trying to lose a certain amount of weight... which was actually preventing my from making any progress.
I have gone through 10 week training programmes and lost weight relatively quickly before, however, I have yo-yoed in weight for a number of years now. Dropping 5 to 10kgs only to put them on again once I eased off intensive training. I had initially hoped to drop 10kg and that was the only result that mattered to me. However, as we progressed through the programme and communicated, I changed and was no longer fixated on losing a specific amount of weight. Instead, I adopted the habits that John teaches and incorporated them into my own life, and began to think about a longer term relationship with weight, food, and fitness. I dropped 8 or 9kgs across 4 or 5 months which was great and felt significantly fitter but the main thing I will take from the time together is the ability to no be as 'addicted' to snacking and having a much healthier relationship with food. For me, the best thing is that I have a much better relationship with food. I would never have been able to identify when I was eating due to hunger as opposed to eating because I was bored, agitated, tired or some other feeling. John supported me to be able to understand when I was actually hungry and to cut out the other types of eating which had become quite negative for me. That's not to say that I stopped eating crisps, chocolate, pizza, and those types of food because I certainly did not. However, I controlled when I ate them and how much of it I ate as well. Having control over food is such a new thing for me and is very comforting knowing that I am not going to go off the rails and binge on Pringles and pizza for an entire week! John has a fantastic way about him and is very supportive and understanding at all times. There is never any judgment about making mistakes, missing training, putting on weight or finding things difficult. Instead, he is helping to find a solution and looking to start anew the next day. It's always about moving forward and that was something alien to me as I would always berate myself, in the past, for not sticking to plans and, as a result, I would eat excessively and feel self-loathing for a week or two before trying to get started again. I also love how easily John was able to work around my life and incorporate training according to my available time and my actual interests. Instead of just giving me a gym plan and telling me to get on with it, |
John was able to give me a mix of cardio due to my love of running and then gym work as well.
And even though I have been carrying injuries, John has always listened and adapted the training to ensure that my injuries weren't aggravated.
The third thing is how well John communicated with me throughout. He would check in several times a week, even if it was just to applaud daily steps and then he would ensure that he gave feedback on training as well as asking me for feedback on the week and listening to what I had to say.
I would highly recommend signing up to work with John. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable but he has the personal skills and understanding that is required to get the best out of people who lead busy lives.
No matter how experienced or inexperienced you are with training/nutrition, if you are currently struggling to find your way, John will be a fantastic guide for whatever duration you work with him.
He is not the type of coach who will push you beyond your capabilities but he will push you in a healthy way to get the best for you.
Nor is he the kind of coach who will try to keep you on his books forever.
He will try to empower you with the knowledge and skills to eventually carry on by yourself when you are ready.
So if you've ever looked at John's social media and been in two minds about reaching out, I would seriously recommend contacting him.
Don't feel like you aren't in the physical condition to start or that you might be too out of shape as he will ensure that all the plans are tailored specifically to your personal needs and abilities.
I honestly cannot speak highly enough of John as a coach or as a person.

I started coaching with John because I had tried everything including fad diets, shake diets, Keto, severe calorie restriction etc.
They all worked to a point but they were not sustainable methods and I ended up falling off the wagon and gaining the weight back plus more. I love John’s approach to weight loss. Nothing crazy, very simple and down to earth methods that are really easy to follow and track and sustain. Just a tweak here or there with my nutrition and exercise and the weight falls off again. I felt that John was with me all the way and always answered questions and check in constantly. I’ve had a massive reduction in measurements and achieved my weight loss goal of 10kgs. I’m the most confident I have been on more than 20 years and I love what I see in the mirror now. Most importantly it’s the results I’ve achieved mentally. Knowing I can live a normal life and eat normal food and still enjoy myself is a great feeling. I can still enjoy myself but I know that I’m prepared to do the work in the gym and eat right the next day so I’m not spiraling and feeling like I’ve lost control if I’ve had a bad meal. Luke was an online client of mine and he is now super confident going off on his own. He achieved all of these results without ever seeing me at the gym. Purely online. He did an amazing job and I’m very proud of his achievements. If you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to stick for weight loss, click the link in my bio above and let’s see if I can help. Prasad has lost weight and dropped his body fat by over 10%.
Not only that, he has kept his weight off for 3-4 times longer than he ever has before. I came to John because I was frustrated by unsustainable approaches to weight loss. My biggest compliment to John was that I cannot believe how simple he has made the process. I have also completed 2 marathons and smashed his previous times. I'm busy, I work long hours, and have a family but I have found a rhythm with my training and nutrition that has led to lasting results. - Our goal for all my clients is to improve health, performance, and body composition in a long-term sustainable way so that people are not frustrated and feel like giving up with their fitness. Well done to you Prasad. All your hard work has paid off. Prasad - Sydney 2020 |

15kg's Down And Feeling Fitter Every Month.
Before training at Human Design I was gaining weight rapidly as I was eating takeaway food every day, not doing much exercise and I was injury-prone when I did train because I had a sedentary job.
I started training with John due to Peer pressure mainly :), and a need to change before I hit the big 5-0.
Since I started the small group training I have had a weight drop of about 15kg's.
My overall measurements are going the right way in every direction and my fitness and strength have both massively improved. I feel much better about myself and it's great to see the health improvements.
I really enjoy training at Human Design because it’s low key, low stress, with an enjoyable and like-minded group of people who don’t mind a bit of a laugh.
John’s also not a bad bloke.
I would absolutely recommend the training, but not to anyone who would breach the “no d::khead” policy.
I would say that my proudest achievements at the studio are the measurements going down, setting/equalling the 500m record time on the rowing machine, and lifting the whole stack on the leg extension machine.

When a simple task of walking started to hurt my feet and they would swell, I knew that I needed to get serious about losing weight.
Since starting my journey with Human Design I have lost over 40kg, 100cm's in measurements and over 6 dress sizes and kept it off for over 2 years.
At the age of 44 I've developed lean muscle, I'm fitter and stronger than I have ever been.
I love the smaller classes at HD where you do get personal attention. Ensuring that the right techniques are used for each exercise is important for reducing the risk of injuries and knowing that I see Johns smiley face at each session puts me at ease.
My life changed just by making the decision to do something for myself. The lifestyle of eating healthy and exercising is not a burden and I'm not giving up anything to do it. I've only gained and benefited from it.
I highly recommend HD for anyone. From someone who hasn't trained before to those that have, each session is designed to challenge. The results that I have achieved happened with not just the exercise but nutrition and other knowledge that John is always willing to pass on. If you're struggling he is there to help.

The main reason I started training was because I wanted to lose weight.
I had lost a bit of weight a few years ago and then I got sick and had to have surgery and couldn’t exercise for almost 2 years. I knew I had put on some weight as none of my clothes were fitting anymore but I didn’t realise just how much weight I had put on until I saw a photo of myself from a couple of years ago.
I was convinced to try Human Design by a work colleague who was training there, and everything changed.
I had tried training at other gyms and all the diets and quick fixes but nothing stuck. I started training twice a week and fell in love! I love the fact that the sessions are different every day and that John and Julia are there to make sure you are training properly as I have a few injuries so it’s great to have someone there to make sure I’m not going to injure myself.
At first, I wasn’t getting results (my own fault!) then John really pushed me to look at my diet and lifestyle and that’s when things started to turn around.
I upped training to 5 days a week and my fitness and strength is so much better. I’m now 14kgs down and working on losing more! I love that I am losing weight, but I also love that I am much fitter and healthier and I generally feel better!
Joining Human Design has been one of the best decisions I have ever made and coming from someone who HATED exercise that’s a big deal! I love training in a small group with wonderful people who make it fun but also push me to work as hard as I can.

I was getting back into Jujitsu, mid 2017, after an ACL reconstruction and I needed to lose weight and get fit again in order to complete my Black belt training. I was at my heaviest weight ever and hated seeing myself that way.
I started with the 28day program to see if I would like it…and I did. I liked that the programs were different each day and that they were challenging.
I found that going to the gym on my own , even with a personal trainer giving me a program was boring and I found it hard to keep motivated.
John and Julia keep me motivated and encourage me to push myself beyond my comfort zone. I’m lifting heavier weights then I’ve ever lifted before and feeling so much stronger!
I’ve lost nearly 10 kilograms (with more to come) and most importantly my body fat and measurements have decreased significantly. I’m back to fitting into clothes that I haven’t worn in over 2 years.
I would absolutely recommend the training at Human Design. The best thing is that I’m even doing morning sessions, which I’ve never done it the past.
With the programs all set out for you, I can get there and just do it without having to think too much, which is sometimes hard so early in the morning.
I’m feeling fitter, stronger and actually enjoying my morning sessions. I have more energy during the day and I’m eating better because of it
I would not have achieved this success without someone pushing me consistently.

The main reason I started working out was to lose weight. I had 2 kids and no idea where to begin and how to start my weight loss.
I have been on Lite and Easy, Optislim shakes and other diets, where the weight loss was temporary, not supported by exercise and weight came back on almost immediately as soon as the diet was stopped.
I felt very depressed and hated dressing up for parties and work functions. I would avoid all functions on the pretext of kids and not being able to fit into anything decent.
I always dreamed of going back to my pre-wedding weight of 58 kgs and that dream was moving further and further away from me.
Push came to a shove when I knew I would have type 2 diabetes as soon as I hit 40. So I started training for 1 day a week with Human Design and now I train for a minimum of 4 days week with John and Julia.
John and Julia have always pushed me to achieve my results. The push also needed to come from me - My goals and my steps to achieve my dream.
They also made me realise that I am human and if I am going to fail and I just need to step back on my wagon and start again.
Apart from the trainers, we have a big bunch of awesome people I train with, who indirectly have motivated me and I would do the same as well.
Its an awesome group of high achievers and it's now a habit of going to the gym every afternoon except when I am seriously ill.
I have lost nearly 10 kgs in 3 plus years.
The amount of weight loss does not compare to the loss in centimetres/inches and the increase in self-confidence, strength and stamina.
I could hardly run 5 laps, and recently could do 25 laps in one go!!!!
Before training with John and Julia, I hated shopping for dresses. I hid in oversize clothes, refused to wear shorts and sleeveless tops even in 40 degrees heat.
Now, I am a confident shopper, perfectly fitting into a size 10, and proudly flaunting my toned body.
My goal for the future is to continue to lose weight, another 10 kilos, get rid of my baby belly and hit the size 8 for dresses.
I now have portion controlled meals and no fizzy drinks.
Alcohol is very limited these days. I used to drink 1 glass of wine a day and now only at parties I have a glass.
I do enjoy myself on occasions, I do not feel guilty having a dessert once every 2 weeks knowing fully well that I will work it off in the Human Design gym sessions.
I highly recommend John and Julia to new colleagues.

Goal: Ditch The Calorie Counting!

Over the years I’ve tried very diet under the sun: weight watchers....I would get results but as soon as I tried to get back to “normal” and have a life it would all pile on again. I also knew that I needed the motivation of a trainer to get a routine established.
My biggest achievement though was getting pregnant first time at age 39. My doctor and OB both commented that my healthy balanced lifestyle was the major contributing factor especially given the odds. I feel very fortunate and lucky but most of all proud that all my hard work has paid off in the most rewarding way.
I didn’t cut any food group outU..the biggest shift for me was including carbs in every meal… this went against the years of diet advice I had followed but by having that balance and including good complex carbs..it meant I never had the cravings… and if I did have a blow out..the effect was minimal.

Goal: Get Back To My BEST Self!

About a decade back, I was depressed for a year – I piled on a LOT of weight – about 10 kgs in a year – and size 12-14 was the new me. Six years later, I started trying to get smaller. I remember spending 40 mins on the treadmill going the fastest I could – which wasn’t very fast because I was so unfit.
I’d eventually tried so many other things that I couldn’t believe anything could make my body smaller. But the math made sense – every other time I’d been working out, I would eat to make up the lost calories – and I’d be starving, so I’d over-eat. No control on portion sizes.
Then John sent another email for the boot camp – I joined – and got hooked!
My mother, and another colleague of mine have lost about 10kgs as well recently – all 3 of us agree on one thing – its so easy! We cant believe we didnt start earlier!!

Goal: Make My Body Transformation In A Supportive Environment!

I have now lost almost 30 kilos and since starting training, I am fitter, stronger & more confident in both work & everyday life. Making the healthier choice in food is actually quite easy now, knowing the benefits are just so great.
The personal support & knowledge from the trainers shows care for each client & I would recommend Human Design to anyone.
I haven’t quite reached my goal yet, but I know I will with the support & encouragement from both John & Chris.

Goal: Develop Lean Muscle

Over 2 months of training with Human Design my overall physique and fitness has improved greatly. I have developed more lean muscle throughout my whole body which has been my main goal. My core strength has also increased significantly and overall my body is looking stronger, leaner and more defined.
The training is of top quality, instructors are knowledgeable and open to opinion and happy to mix up training plans due to injuries or concerns. They also watch very closely to ensure the particular exercise is being conducted correctly to ensure people avoid injury – to me this is very important and something you don’t get with classes at the larger gyms.

Goal: Find The Right Trainer For You!

I started with John as I wanted to have more structure and routines to my workouts as well as establish a nutrition plan that would help me lose a few kilo’s and tone up in time for summer. Before I was going to the gym but didn’t really know what I was doing and would just do whatever machine/weights were free rather than going to the gym with a plan, and now I have lost 9 kilos!
Firstly, John is a great guy! He’s a really nice, down to earth guy… as opposed to the typical trainers in most gyms who are quite often arrogant and not very approachable (one of the main reasons I hadn’t considered a trainer until John was recommended by a friend).
Once you start seeing quick results, it’s easier to carry on and keep pushing yourself to maintain your new lifestyle.

Goal: Ditch That Overweight Person In The Mirror!

I was feeling very unfit and overweight. Clothes were fitting badly, and I was not happy with how I looked so I decided to try the Human Design Fat Loss Bootcamp.
Getting up at 5:30 in the morning to go training! No? Okay, I really enjoyed the variety of training, getting taught the proper techniques and John’s encouragement. I have lost over 5 kilos so far!
The eating plan has been great too. I’ve changed my diet and feel great on it! Undoubtedly I have more energy, generally feel a lot better.

Goal: I Wanted To Get Bigger!

I knew that I no longer wanted to feel like a hat stand with a t-shirt thrown over the top – it was time to make a change for the better!
My clothes just didn’t fit, I had no shape of any kind, and it just killed my confidence.
Looking back I can’t believe how small, weak and unfit I was.
This was definitely a change I wanted to make for me, and really the most difficult part was just taking that first step to pick up the phone.
Simply put, I wanted to get bigger!
I wasn’t ready to jump into a gym by myself headfirst – I knew that I wanted a PT who could create the right space for me to feel sufficiently comfortable to push harder and harder.
I’ve gained nearly 14kg, most notably across my back, shoulders and upper legs. My posture is more upright, and a t-shirt now fits properly! The photos speak for themselves, I think.
I now enjoy exercising. Outrageous. It’s one of the very few things in life where the outcome is directly related to the effort you put in, which is very rewarding when sometimes work seems like the exact opposite.

It’s great to catch my reflection in the mirror and actually see a person standing there rather than just a heap of skin and bone.
Even better – I am motivated to keep going, to keep setting new goals, and to change my habits outside of the gym too. I think of what I’ve achieved so far, and how much more I could achieve with even more focus and attention.
If you are on the fence about doing Personal Training - Definitely do it. And keep doing it.
